I called my mechanic today and they already ordered me a chromed LRD for my 400ex. They said it should be in this Friday. Maybe I'll get it installed this weekend and give her a rip. My mechanic is saving about $35. (plus no shipping charge to me),over LRD'a price, so I'm glad I waited.

If you go to this site
http://www.oohva.org/pages/sound.html
and scroll down there is a area that you enter what kind of quad you own (ie honda, yamaha, polaris, suzuki) and then after yu click on that you can just scroll down and it tells what stock versus all the different types of aftermarket exhaust noise level is. It covers tons of bikes with all sorts of exhausts. thought that this might answer some of your questions..

Lightninn,
Have you got your new LRD installed yet? If so, what are the results?
I ordered one, but havn't recieved it. I would like to know how long it took to recieve your pipe and if you havn't recieved it yet, how long has it been on order?

ss396, The LRD system does not have a stainless headpipe. It is plain ole steel. If you want to avoid corrosion you must purchase it chromed, which they do offer, or get it chromed yourself.

I just purchased a '00 400EX and love it! I put dg nerfbars, skid plates and a Big Gun Exhaust on it and would recommend it to anyone. The Big Gun is the best, it adds a ton of power throughout the entire powerband. I put the full system on including the header. I also own a '00 Warrior with a White Bros e-series exhaust, K&N, and Holeshot XC's and the 400EX is twice the machine! The suspension just kills the Warrior and so does the handling.

'00Warrior, '00 400EX and '00 Eton 90

If you knew any better you would know that the big gun sucks. If you ever get to look at a dyno chart the stock header, pipe, and silecer creates about .75 more peak HP than the big gun. or go to gthunders home page and go to the 400ex exhaust shootout, and look at how big of a piece of crap u bought.

I thought my White Bro's e-series slip-on silencer was a really good unit until today. That was when I noticed one of the mounting brackets' weld was fractured and completely loose. That's after only a couple months of riding.

Hey all this info on pipes helps. Is it possible to recam, jet & fix the airbox and have great gain in power without having to buy a White Brothers E-series? Perhaps a FMF or other pipe will work?
