What you need to do is place a small piece of wood or steel(I use a 12" ruler) inside the caliper as though it was a brake pad. This will act as a stopper strip. Now apply pressure to the line connection. One piston will start to come out until it hits the stopper strip then the other will come out. The trick is you don't want to initially blow the one piston all the way out. Using a stopper strip will prevent this. After both pistons are out againts stopper strip, remove stopper strip and blow them the rest of the way out. You may still have to pull one of the pistons out with your fingers but this shouldn't be a problem now.

I have been having lot's of trouble with my 86R. I cannott seem to get the pin out of the caliper. Does anyone know how to get it out? I have tried heating it up and still no luck.... The pin is the one that lets the caliper move freely over the disc. Right now the pin does not move and then makes the caliper pin itself against the disc.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with both of my 250Rs, and both required a great deal of heat to get the pins out. Try soaking the pin in something like Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster for a few days to loosen up the corrosion and then try heating it again. This worked for me on my '87, but my '88 was so bad I ended up giving it to someone with an acetylene torch in order to heat it up enough. Hope this helps.

Acccck!! You're scaring me, Witz! I have an 88 and haven't had to work on the brakes (yet)... Now I'm NOT looking forward to it.

Please everyone use alot of Anti cease (that real messy silver stuff) You won't ever have these problems again. It works especially well where steel touches aluminium and corrosion is formed.

I use it on my swing arm bolt, rear and front brake bolts, hubs, axle nut, motor mount bolts etc etc.. I think you get the idea, use it everywhere.
