suggested mods to 300ex
#1
Hello, I currently own a 1993 honda 300ex and am looking to do some modifying on it. I recently bought a DG RCM exhaust and am going to get a new K & N air filter and probably some new rings for the cylinder.
My question is where do I go from here? I've been told such things as boring it out ( my personal preference right now), getting a high compression piston, a new cam, and drilling holes into the airbox. IF anyone could tell me the advantages to doing each of these things and the approximate price range I'd be looking at or suggesting a completely new route. I'm pretty sure I'd like to try out the airbox modifications but would like to be absolutely sure of how to do it. Since I do alot of riding in the Oklahoma sand dunes would the sand create a problem by getting into the airbox more easily? I know, unmodified, my airfilter already gets quite dirty down there. Thank you for any help you can give me, and for excusing the poor grammar of this hastily typed message.

One other thing you can do for better breathing is to replace the stock breather tube, the one that runs between the air box and the carb, with one from a 350X. They are identical except the inside diameter of the 350x is a bit larger allowing more air through.
Make sure you check your jetting as you go along. The more air through it the leaner your mixture will become.

Get a TC racing 365 or 405cc kit. Also take the lid off and put a piece of pantyhose over the air box . I just bought a 95 300ex with a TC racing 405 kit aftermarket cooler supertrap exhaust and a larger head pipe +2 arms +2 swingarm rikens on the front and turf tammers on the rear. The only bad thing is it runs on 114 octane race gas. This is the same motor setup used in the nationals. Just thought i give u some suggestions.
