My friend has a '95 Yamaha Warrior that is on a steady diet of 1 EBC clutch per week. At about $95 a pop, this machine is causing him to read the classifieds for a secnd part-time job. He should have gotten a 400EX like me. Anyway, when he is doing everything the manual says (cleaning everything, soaking the friction disks, slipping the clutch for a minute or two after installation, etc) but it tends to start slipping to the point where it won't even pull it's own weight. Since there are no installation directions with the EBC clutch kit, we called and talked to them directly. Frankly, my 13 month old daughter could have given me better advice and had more knowledge (should let her take a stab at it). On the stock clutch, there are two waved rings (springs) that are installed between the third and fifth friction disks. These are not in the EBC kit. We have been putting these in with this kit though. Could this be the problem or are EBC clutches just junk?

You do not have to run the little rings, but it does not huirrt to run them. They help ease getting into nuetrel and out of reverse.
I don't know why you are burning so many clutchs up. Are you lineing the back pressure plate up wwith the clutch boss? If you are following the manual, it explains how. Are you putting HD clutch springs in it? That could be your problem. Make sure you have the clutch adjusted right. You should have a little play in it.

I think I found the culprit. He's is letting his 8 year old son (who is WAY to young and small for it and who happens to be part Tasmanian Devil) break it in. He is not keeping slack in the lever. This kid believes in riding it until it won't ride no more. But other than that, We don't have to use the rings for other than ease of shifting. right?

I don't run them in mine. I have EBC's in it right now. Before that I had Barnett's. I am about to order a set of Barnett's for mine. I think there a little better than ebc's. But there both good. I am not putting the rings back in it. The way I look at it is if Barnett or EBC wanted you to run the rings, they would send them in there kit.
