Why do the magazines suck so bad?

I dont understand why the DuneSport 650 is not considered by some for what it is, a true high performance quad that IS in the same category as a 400ex/Banshee. What makes the DS so special? These other guys should have been offering this type of machine awhile ago, but it took a new guy to show them how its done, right off the bat. Besides I have seen others on this board who talk about having already upgraded their suspensions and motors on a 2000 year 400ex/banshee. THat mod (the shocks) right off the bat is gonna be big bucks, so I will never see the big deal over a $1000 that is probably financed anyway. That argument wont hold up.
Or you could look at it this way(my real preference) You could put over $1300.00 into a 400ex and it still wouldnt be in the same class as the Ds-650.
Have a nice weekend all,

The thing that upsets me the most is how the articles are written. They write the articles as though we are 12 year old kids. How insulting. If you compare some of the MX mags to there's, they don't write the atricals as though the readers are dumb or completely stupid.
Secondly their race coverage is horrible. Last year at the South Carolina GNC TT race the Pros refused to race. This was a huge story and all it got was 1 small paragraph. Why don't they ever do interviews with the top pros? I'm sure everyone would like to know some more inside scoop on the top ATV riders in the world.
I have 1 more question if the banshee and blaster hasn't changed in 10 years or so why the heck are they still doing reviews on these old fossils.
Our sport will never grow if everyone is treated like children. Give us some serious techinical atricles to read.

Mr. 400,
Can't go with that arguement... The 400EX and the DS-650 ARE in the same class.....
Much more along the same class than the idea of putting the Polaris Sport 400, Banshee, and 400EX together and calling that fair.
I haven't personally read the article on the DS-650 vs. "race ready" 250R... but sounds like the DW crew KNEW the 400 didn't stand a chance. Why put a race-only quad that very few of us will ever own up against something that quite possibly could be owned by the masses?....

Although I personally own 2 Hondas myself. I agree totally with the 400EX vs. DS650 shootout. I think the DS would KILL it. The MX test was an amazing revelation for anyone who doubts the potential for the beast. Finally we have our new race quad and it isn't a Honda. I would like to see just how much power they can get out of that thing also.... WHERE DO I GET ONE?? I haven't seen one anywhere here in Florida.

I'd like to see the magazines use more objective testing methods! Ever heard of a Dyno! They'll test a pie and tell us it improves top end or bottom end. Show me a graph so I can see exactly what the pipe changes. This info is in all the dirt bike magazines. I want to see technical information about the quads and other products. I don't want to hear a rating based on how much money someone has slipped into their back pockets!

I wonder what is going to happen if the gas-gas ever comes out? That is one serious machine!!!
As for you 250r, 400ex and banshee guys complaining; how do you think I feel with my LT500, I haven't seen it in a shootout...ever!!!

I think 4-Wheel ATV Action is paid to put stuff in there magazine articles. Like for instances the new issue that I just got two days ago. They test the Honda Rancher, Polaris Xpedition, and Yamaha Big Bear. The Yamaha Big Bear did better in everything except a couple it was clearly the winner of the shootout. But to much of my surprise at the end of the article they said the Rancher was the winner of the shootout.
