I have a TRX 250R. I want to put a new clutch in it and am wondering what to get for it. I here alot of people using CR500 spring. What year do they use and whats an advantage of that. Also what do you recommend and what seems to work best? Thanks.

TRX 250R lots of mods and extras

Stick with the stock friction discs, clutch plates, and clutch springs. I find they work the best. Go for the aftermarket clutch basket made by Hinson, and use the HONDA '89 update kit.

What does the 89 upgrade kit give you? Also how much for a clutch basket?

You can get the Hinson clutch basket from most after market companies like NACS, and Jame Lucky. Check your DIRT WHEELS mag for others. I like to deal with them directly. They sell somewhere around $225.00. Not cheap, but they last longer. You'll come out better in the long run. As far as the clutch update kit, I can't find my receipts. Just ask NACS if you call them. Tell them what year motor you have, and tell them you need the '89 clutch upgrade kit, or just a price. You can even call your local HONDA dealer for this one. It will give you smoother gear changing, while shifting. Good luck.

the 89 clutch update kits comes with a new collar, needle bearing, washer, and clutch pressure plate, as well as possibly a pushrod.

yes of course, that is what it is designed for. it 'updates' the older style clutches to the 89 style clutch, hence the name '89 clutch update'

its easy to do..I'd just suggest doing it while the cover is off.

just remove the old parts, and put the new ones in, if you have a manual for your R, it will assemble just like the 89 clutch.
