Changing rear suspension

Changing rear suspension
Has anyone here ever changed out a solid rear axle for an independent suspension? It may sound crazy but I'm always up to new challenges! One of my machines is a '98 Grizzly 600. I was thinking of getting a junker with IRS, using what I could off of that and modifying current rear axle to accept the IRS. Any thoughts?
