Default Using a Glasspack/Cherry Bomb Muffler

Thinking about getting a cherry bomb muffler for my 02 big bear 400, model # 87021, it will obviously need to be custom fit, just wondering who has used these as mufflers and whether you like them or not

I can tell you from experience that it'll sound like ****. I heard a cherry bomb muffler on an atv one time and almost threw up.

only reason I am considering it is that i can grab one off ebay for around $20, thinking of putting a rubber flapper on it to quiet it down some plus keep the water out

The exhaust of an ATV is tuned for performance....... If you put on a glasspack hollow muffler you will lose back pressure and then you will lose torque........ It is a total waste of time and money.... You will only make your ATV louder and run like crap on the low end.

Agree with ss97, my buddy put one on his warrior. We both had warriors back in the day and raced all the time. He was usually a quad lenght behind me. After he installed a cherry bomb he was three-four quad lenghts behind and it ran like crap and died vey easily in low rpms. Sounded horriable. Spend a little more and get a used slip on buitl for an atv or just stay stock. Just my .02cents

Even if it did work, over time it would just get louder and louder. The packing blows out after some time. Also when the muffler gets really hot and then hits water, the inside would most likely crack. It's not designed to take the heat an ATV would produce and the environment you would be subjecting it to .
