What Cable Lube (if any) do you recommend?
#1
I have been lubricating my cables every five rides or so with a graphite/liquid product that comes in a small, black squeeze bottle and a very long (4" or so) needle applicator. So far, it seems to work just fine.
I have been applying the lubricant by pulling the cable hand lever in, then placing the needle as far down the cable case as possible near the adjuster. I then squeeze a liberal amount of the liquid in.
So far, I havn't noticed any problems. I am assuming the lubricant is nothing more than isopropyl alcohol and graphite mixed together. The alcohol serves as the agent to get the graphite to run through the cable and then dry up so there is no gummy residue left behind.
This sure seems a lot easier than those kits you can buy which include actually removing the cable from the hand lever then attaching a small attachment to spray lubricant into.
What do you use and what do you think of the method/product I have been using? I apologize, but I don't have the name of the product with me or I would list it.
Thanks!

Sounds like your doing it right\ never heard of this product that your using but if it has the alchol in it to get the powder to the whole cable that is fine ,as long as there's no deposit to gather dust and dirt.

there's a company that has a specific lube called cable life, it even comes with a little tool that forces the lube all the way into the cable. you can buy it anywhere, whatever your close to. I know Arizona Off Road and Screwie Lewis carries it.
