FTZ Pilot conversion
#1
Does anyone out there have a Honda pilot top end on there 250r. How does it run? I want on for my r but a guy at FTZ told me it could only be run stricly with race gas. I would like to hear some other opinions. keeping it honda is my goal(no pro-x cylinders) I dont want top end screamer just something that has tones of pulling power. If it goes just as fast as the 250 motor i wouldnt care. so long as it had more pulling force. so are there any 400r's out there that are not! drag racers and run like a normal quad

Requiring the race gas is because of the head work and port work they do to the cylinder during the conversion. Did you ask if it could be recreational ported instead of race ported?
A Pilot has a 79mm stroke. Do they stroke the 250 crank or shorten the Pilot cylinder?

They stroke the crank for the pilot topend conversion. I have talked with Dave Moore at MP racing and he is having excellent luck putting Polaris Sport 400 cylinders on the TRX250R bottem ends. There is no need to weld the cases as you have to do with the Pilot conversion and they are making more power also.

Does MP Racing have a web site?
Pilot cases need to be welded up to accept a CR500 jug so it is probably too big to make it fit on a 250 bottom end.
Could someone post the dimensions of the 250R cylinder base studs?
If anyone is interested, I can post those of a Pilot and a CR500.
