I'm a Blaster rider and my cousin ouns a 300EX. My quad is stock and I can roost all over his stock EX except on really long straights where he can catch up to me. My point? Everyone says that a 300EX will beat a Blaster hands down, right? Well, that depends on who's riding it. Don't get hot thinking that I'm jackin' on your riding style because that's not what this is about. If his Honda has all the usual mods - exhaust, K&N filter, etc. then I'm sure you will need all of those. The cool thing about having a 2-stroke quad is that you can get more power for your dolla out of aftermarket products than a 4-stroker! After you bolt up all those mods, you WILL NEED TO CHANGE YOUR GEARS! I know this one kid (not a very bright individual) that thinks that since his modified 300EX can win a drag by starting off in 2nd gear, then it is just the baddest quad around. Now think, wouldn't his quad be even faster if he changed his gear ratio so he needed first gear again? He'd have an even better top speed, but some people never listen. So if you modify your Blaster and start feeling like your gears are getting "short" you should get a new set of sprockets. By the way, if you change your sprockets go ahead and replace the chain, too. It's just a good idea to do that to try and prevent abnormal wear to your chain or sprockets. I'm a Blaster rider myself and all I can say is good luck bro... You've kinda got your work cut out for you.

If you really want to beat that 300ex, put a big bore kit on it, then extend the swing arm on it so you dont pop wheel-e's every time you push on the gas. Then put a after market pipe and silencer. If you need more put a 34mm carb. I race blasters and beat banshees with mine. Dont listen to them other dumbass's that just started riding.

Last year i raced my blaster in a 91-300 air cooled class where blaster's, 250x's amd 300ex's all raced against each other. I beat some slightly modded 300's with my fairly stock blaster which only had a K & N filter, FMF pipe/silencer and some good tires. The only 300 that beat me was one that was totally race ready with some motor work, works shocks, aftermarket a-arms and swing arm(i dont remember what kind), full exhuast, amd race plastic. it was a really nice bike and had LOTS of power.
