Question 1997 CR80 Honing Questions

I have a 47mm piston with a sleeve in rough shape (assuming they are plated) I wanted to try and get away with honing it because it's cheaper. They sell a 47.5mm piston, and the only flex-hone tools available jump from 45mm to 48mm so I am assuming use the 48? Can I hone half a mm with a flex-hone and use the 47.5 or is that too much and would require boring techniques? You see I don't know how think the plating is, does it need to be replated every time you bore it 1mm in size? I appreciate any help!
