Default deep mud diesel 4x4 build ideas

thinkin of building a high lift big tire'd super muddin atv with submarine capability's,with a light weight turbo diesel,..i seen the 2007 articcats an herd bout the older polaris,.but wanting more reasonable weight a better throttle response!! just seems a diesel would dig stronger in thick mudd an be easier to run in deep water!

Not sure where you would get a diesel to make into a quad that would come in under the weight of the old Polaris diesels or the newer AC ones. Weight isn't necessarily a bad thing when trying to dig down to solid footing in mud.

Maybe look for small used generators.

Those are interesting. Not on the light side though.

why not just add a turbo to a stock diesel atv? there's a few places I found on ebay that actually do this. I think AC still makes a diesel, don't they... or they did up to a few years ago...

better then dropping $5k just on a diesel motor- then anothe $5 - $7k trying to mad a tranny to fit it and all the logistics involved with a conversion.

It all comes down to spinning those tires- you don't need a $5k diesel motor to do that unless you're just looking to built some exotic mini mudder!

cant afford a new cat,..but seen a tubo'd one on youtube that was bad azz,..really wanting to scratch build one as a hobby, seems like a cool prodject since ive been round diesel trucks all my life an grew up playin with them in front yard since i was 10 an rebuilt my first 855 ci NTC cummins at the age of 13,...if i do this project i will be budget minded an sorceing a salvaged diesel motor to place on a un-suspecting 4x4atv!

I hear ya on the budget thing! but I really think the project will put you over what it would cost to just buy a diesel atv

by the time you finish designing, building and budgeting a DIY diesel atv- you could've saved for one like this- hell, that briggs diesel alone with shipping cost almost as much as this entire 08 AC diesel atv!
