Unhappy Making Chinese ATV Reliable

I did alot of custom wiring on my Tao Tao ATA-110, which resulted in a very unreliable quad. So I decided to rip out the whole harness and make my own. I also ripped apart the stator for a custom rebuild, planning to change to a 6 pin DC ignition. Any advice before I start on the harness and stator?

Yeah, I didn't take pictures. What wire sizes should I use and wire connectors.
