Do aftermarket mufflers make that much difference?

Looking at stuff for my ATV I found this nice looking muffler;
There's nothing wrong with my stock muffler (except a bit of mud stuck to it that I should power wash off LOL) but I admit this one looks neat and says it might give you a little more boost. I've just wondered though if they are more for flash (looks) and more or different noise. Or do many of you find they do what they claim in terms of benefits?

I read an article quite a while back where they dyno tested quads with several different pipes. Some gave a performance boost but some were actually a little worse than stock. If you want more power you probably need an airbox mod and carb re-jet to go along with the pipe.

A pipe in and of itself will give you minimal gains and lots more noise. A full system pipe, header, vented air box, uni air filter and proper jets will give you substantial gains.
If your quad is a four stroke I would look into different brands of pipes. Its rare you see a DG on a four stroke. They are still popular with 2 strokes.
