not enough power in reverse
#1
Hi everyone. Hoping someone else has had this problem and can help me out. I just put 26" zillas on my 03 Kodiak 450, in low gear I have no problem turning them while playing in the mud but when I get stuck and put it in reverse I can't turn them. My Kodiak has less than 800 miles on it and has been field driven by a older guy so it hasent been abused or anything. Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums.
Not familiar with the handlebar switches and their locations on this model, but are you using the reverse over ride switch?

This is a video someone else has made, but it does show one solution to the problem. Before cutting any wires, I'd make sure that your model is the same as this one is.

That's great! Much appreciated!
His is a newer model but still its worth trying
Mine does not sputter like he was talking about but so far I have talked to a Yamaha dealer and two other places and no other options .
I ordered a new belt just to try even though Im pretty sure its not the problem since I have had no problems going forward

From what I've read, it uses a limiter that doesn't have the over ride switch like a Polaris does. But when I was looking for that, I did see you are not alone in looking to do away with it.
