Default 00' - 01' sportsman 500 ho

I have an 00' bike that the motor went bad in and I put a motor from an 01' in it I have gotten everything to work except I can't figure out how to wire the regulator in. Anybody have any suggestions on how that works with the ignition?

Did you use the original 2000 stator and wiring harness or the later model 2001? Makes a difference on models. If you need a manual with wiring diagrams, this one should show your 2000 and the 2001. https://www.tradebit.com/filedetail....service-manual

Hi thanks for responding. I used the old stator and harness. So I have my yellow and yellow/red connected directly to it and my brown runs off to the ground. So do I need to run my red through my ignition switch or can I send it straight to the battery to charge? The problem is that my fan will not kick on so the bike over heats. I put a new temp sensor on it and a new thermostat and I am pulling -11 volts on the power wire running to the fan. Do u think I should hard wire a switch for the fan or is there something I am missing that I could do so that it is done correctly? I'm not going nuts on this it is the bike I use for being an ambulance chaser while my kids are learning how to ride. Thanks again for your time and knowledge
