I have a 1988 Kawasaki Tecate 4 and was wondering if a KX 250 engine would and if it is water-cooled(preferably)and what year the engine would have to be.

Thanks

K. Winn

I believe the KX motor would fit in the Tecate three wheelers. You would have to make new motor mounts for it to fit in the Tecate-4 frame. A Tecate-4 motor is still quite modern even by today's standards and I personally would spend money modifying the stock motor.

yes the motor will fit but it will vibrate there is no counter balancer on a kx and the gear ratio in trans is different but if you are interested in selling the quad i will buy it from you

The Kawasaki Tecate Series does use a KX250 engine - the same one from that same year of KX250 - only difference is, the Tecate engine has different gear ratios, and a counterbalancer. For instance - if you have a 1988 Kawasaki Tecate 4 - it uses a 1988 KX250 engine. All things from a KX 250 engine swap over - or so im told.
hope i helped.
