I have looked into running larger flat slides on my banshee. The local quad shops HIGHLY recommend them. From what I have been told, the mixture it directed into your intake alot better by the taper on the slide itself. If you look on most round slides, they arent smooth on the bottom near the taper. They have a concaved area that causes the fuel flow to be slowed up due to getting caught in there. They also told me that the flat slides arent as prone to bind in the bore as a round one is. They build alot of alky racers, so I take what they have to say serious. Hope this info helps ya.

I use flatslides exclusively. I have used both mikuni and keihin and they are the best. I pretty much agree witht the previouse post as to why they work better. better throttle response and top end.

You can also use what are called "UFO'S" on standard round slide Mikuni carbs. It stands for ultimate flow optimizer. They are a plastic insert that fill in the cavity on the bottom of the slide. They claim with them installed the carb has a higher flow rate than a flat slide carb. I installed them on my snowmobile and they really work. You dont have to change your main jets, you do have to drop down to approx.1/2 of your stock pilot size. They can be bought through any snowmobile shop. They are made by a company called Thunder Products.

I ALSO USE THE UFO'S ON MY SNOWMOBILE. MUCH CHEAPER THEN FLATSLIDE CARBS AND JUST AS AFFECTIVE. ON TESTS THEY FLOW MORE FUEL AT 1/4 TO 3/4 THROTTLE THEN THE FLATSLIDE CARBS. HERE'S THE # 1-320-597-2700. www.thunderproducts.com
THEY CAN ONLY BE USED ON MIKUNI CARBS. PUT A MIKUNI 34mm CARB ON MY '84 ATC 250R, HAVE THE UFO FOR IT JUST HAVE TO INSTALL. WILL LET YOU KNOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES. MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE ON MY SLED.

The guy who invented UFO's and sells them lives about 10 miles from me..I'm wondering if flatslide carbs are much better than roundslide, or not.

THEY DO FLOW A LOT BETTER THEN THE ROUNDSLIDE CARBS, BUT IF YOUR NOT LOOKING TO SPEND A LOT OF $$$$ UFO'S ARE MUCH CHEAPER AND FLOW BETTER THEN FLATSLIDE, EXCEPT FOR WIDE OPEN THROTTLE.

I am considering getting a flatslide for my warrior, mikuni makes one with an accelerator pump, kind of pricy, but should be the ultimate in throtle response for a four stroke. The flatslides have inserts in them, jet blocks I think they are called, on each side of the slide, witch makes the ID. smooth, and throtle response is suposed to be better. I think the round slides were there first design and the flatslide was an improved design.
