I have a recently rebuilt quadracer with maybe forty hours on the new top end. My water pump started leaking out the weep hole in the bottom of the case before I put it away for the winter last fall. Replaced the seals, and smoothed the interior of the case where the seal rests, for it was scarred and scratched. We put it back together and the leak was as bad if not worse. Was this the demise? Is there a remedy? I'm dying to get it running and try my new suspension/chassis mods. Can anyone give me some helpful info?

what's up?? i'm also having a water pump problem but i think i have it beat now... if i'm right there are 2 seals a machanical seal and a oil seal.. if you replace one you must do the other also.. ther is another gasket. after you put the impeller on ther is a gasket then a lock washer the nut.. the gasket is like the one found on the water pump drain.. one more that i can think of if the shaft itself... Did you inspect the seal before you installed it. The seals are true mechanical seals with ceramic and carbon sealing faces. These faces are very brittle. If chipped they wont seal worth a ****. One thing thats happened to me in the past, is paint from inside the motor getting between the sealing surfaces, and causing a leak. Just pull the seal and look at it. One last thing would be the impeller shaft. Is it straight, not bent?? Hope this helps.

8 out of 10 times the problem is just the seal washer on the left hand threaded impeller bolt. When you tighten it, it gets damaged. You need to use a little grease and tighten carefully, also it needs to be installed in the proper direction. The seal costs about $ 2.00 I think, the part # is 09168-06025
