I was wondering which air filter to run on my 300EX? In the summer when there's little or no rain it gets pretty dusty, especially when your chasing R's and 400EX's. But anyway, do aftermarket foam filters provide better filtering than paper filters? Just curious???

Yes, foam filters are superior to paper or gauze-type filters in dusty environments. Some riders use a gauze type such as K & N with an outerwears over it for additional protection from dust. I run a Pro Design adapter kit & Pro Flow filter on my Warrior.I don't think it is available for your ride, however, Uni makes a decent foam filter that may be available for the 300ex.Basically, paper or gauze filters are designed for dunes or other sandy terrain & do not filter fine dust too well.

I went from a UNI to a K&N with a pre charger.I noticed a big difference.I run a 250r with the air box cover off (because of mods)the K&N filters way better then the UNI and is much easier to maintain. I do recomend getting the K&N wash kit with the filter. It works great. The pre charger is nice to have to alot of times all you have to do is pull it off and rinse it out with water and slap it back on and your good to go.They also help keep water from getting into the filter.
