I bought a jet kit with a K&n fitler and was wonder how I can tell if I am going to have the right air/fuel mixture when I install it. I have heard that you can look at the spark plug to see if it has a tanish tint to it, but it looks like I will have to take the bike apart to remove the fuel tank to get the plug out each time to check it. Is there a simpler way? Should I just trust the directions? I just dont want to do any damage to my new magnum 500.

Reading the plug is the only accurate way to jet a bike.I wouldnt trust the instructions because there are too many variables like temperature and altitude and no two engines are identical either. If it is hard to access the plug with the gas tank installed, try to remove the tank for testing purposes and find a small tank you can hook up temporarily . A tank off an old lawnmower might work and you can just fasten it to your upper frame with a bungee cord or something.it should work for as long as it takes to jet the bike.
