PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WARRIOR PROBLEM
#1
I NEED HELP with a warrior problem.I just finished putting together a 98 warrior i got cheap that some guy i know crashed when it was only 6 months old,he never fixed it and just bought a new one.I got it for 500.00 but it was stripped, plastics, tires ,ect. ect.Thats all finished. It will run perfect untill you really get on it then it cuts out like its in a rev limiter, when you let off a little bit its fine,i checked the timing, tried rejetting,4 or 5 times,[that got it running] i even took my daughters carb off her perfect running warrior and it did the same thing. It has around 100 hours on it tops.I cant figure it out.TELL ME SOMETHING GUYS,i just spend all weekend tring to figure it out,NEXT STEP, the yammi dealer, then that will be the end of my [GOOD DEAL] THANKS IN ADVANCE

I'm not for sure, but it might be the emergency brake. look by the emergency brake there's a black piece that inserts into something. it might be loose. I just took mine out tapped it up real good and put it back under it.it makes it cut out when you give it the gas and it hardly runs.i did that and it fixed it but that might not be your problem but hopefully it is cause it's an easy fix. hope that helps.good luck

The parking brake switch should only affect it right off idle,it was meant to prevent brake frying from leaving the parking brake on,but if it shorts out intermittantly,it could cause problems. If it was in a crash,it could have knocked the stator out of alignment,I had a similar problem with my Wolverine when new,a bad skip on the top end. It turned out the gap on the stator to the firing coil was too wide, this will cause 'spark scatter' at high rpm,the gap makes a weaker spark,so when you really need it at the top end, you loose power to the plug, and it misses and skips. Have the dealer or whoever your mechanic is check the gap to the firing coil to see if that is the problem. Hope that helps you out. By swapping carbs(very good troubleshooting!!) you have eliminated the fuel side as a source of the problem.

There is a ground wire attached where the reverse selector is. If this connection gets corroded it will skip at high rpm`s. Remove and make sure you have a good connection. I had to do this at least once a year on my 92 Warrior. HTH

I just bought a 03 raptor. 1st day out in the pits - thing hits a limiter like it was in reverse. Nuetral, in gear, in reverse did the same friggin' thing. Finally got pissed, pulled the sensors off the reverse sensor. No good. Pulled the E-brake sensor off - ran perfect. How about that , brand new & it F'd up.
SO if you guys hit a rev limiter problem on a raptor - yank the sensor off the parking brake.
Damn yamaha's.

It could be the ground wire, but if u have an aftermarket pipe and airbox mods then Im betting that its due to ur valve springs. U need heavy duty springs on a Warrior because the stock springs arent strong enough to close the valves all the way with ur new found power. My buddy had this problem 2 years ago and there was an article in Dirt Wheels about this a few months back.

Quadzuki has a valid point, I forgot about the springs on a stock Warrior will float at sustained high rpm, would definately cause cutting out on the top end. Putting new springs in is not a minor job,but you probably could if you are mechanically inclined.
