Well, I'm assuming you got the cylinder honed at least.
Hopefully the piston still has lots of life in it too?

One tank of gas should be good enough to break in the new rings.
I would just follow the method for breaking in a new engine.
Vary the RPM's, and give it gobs of gas.
Go though all of the gears under load too.

You want to generate enough heat to "seat" the rings to the cylinder.

I do not have direct experience with just breaking in a set of rings, so I am only ASSUMING that you would follow the normal engine break-in pricedure which also has a lot to do with properly breaking in the piston too (heat cycles).

Anyone else care to elaborate more??

Right, but that is for a fresh PISTON and rings.
I am not sure if the heat cycles are necessary for just RING break in or not.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the heat cycles are for the expansion and contraction of the piston, as it will expand and contract more while it is fresh?????
