Using a rear calp. from a 250 dirtbike?
#1
I was wondering if anyone has thought about using a rear caliper from a 250 dirtbike? My buddy has a 93 CR250 and the thickness and surface area of the pads is much more substantial then anything I've seen on the rear of a quad. This seems like an easy fix to going through rear pads 2-3 times faster then the fronts. I realize it would take some custom bracket but I think it would be worth it. I would try and locate a caliper from one of those used parts places. Just a thought, any opinions appreciated.

Actually I would use a front caliper off of a dirtbike (most have two pistons). Or if you wanted really good stopping power get a front caliper off of a 600 or bigger crotch rocket most have three or four pistons per caliper and they have dual discs up front.
