I beleive all you should need is the hardware to connect the cable to itself and form an eye at one end. On my cable, this is done with a cable bolt (like a u-bolt, but sold to fit a certain diameter cable. If the hook uses a clevis pin to connect to the cable then the loop can be made without a hook, then installed when the loop is made. If the hook just has an eye at the end, the loop will have to be made with the hook.
