hey guys looking for any help i can get. We are going to build our own frame... go-kart style. its gonn ahold my old snowmachine engine and we are going to go with chain and sprocket. i need to make the design for it though. we are not going to go buy anythign pre-made we are building it ourselves becasue we can... does anybody know where i can get some tips on frame design? or know anything? any help will be gr8 thanks.. if you need want more info on this give me a shout

 

are you making a quad or a go kart?

 

Get a copy of Sand Sports and check out some of the web sites for mini sandrails. Most are motorcycle powered but some use the sled engines, you should be able to get a good idea of what is required. What size engine are you using out of the sled?

 

im starting on a simular project but im getting most of my stuff from the junk yard... i am using a large 10hp go cart frame 2 seater and i have reinforced the frame with some steel ... then i found some old quads one is a polaris with no motor prtty much a bent frame but i am useing the front struts off it i have them mounted on or testin purposes only unless i really like them... then i found a back half prtty much witch looks like mayb a 400ex witch i am using the whole swing arm if the bearing arent shot i was told it was hauled in a week b4 i picked it up... while i was in the junk yard i found a 500cc sled that has reverse but i am using a chain and sproket first and if that dont work im going to use the belt... right now i just have the frame reinforced and the front suspension mounted on i had to use a litle bit of the polaris frame to get it to work but it looks kinda sweet.. today im going to see if there is any way i can mount the swingarm on or find a way to get the rear suspenion on but keep the axle there im hoping .... ill let you know how it works out or send me a pm thanx
