I have a 96 Banshee. It is .020" over with everything (motorwise) stock with the exception of a set of LRD adjustable pipes and 290 mains and 30 intermediate jets.

I just put the pipes and jet kit in along with going from a 20" tire to a 22" rear tire. The LRD jet kit was for airbox lid removed, but so far I'm just running with the snorkel off.

It seems to pull harder on top end, but bogs a lot more on bottom. My plugs look a good tan color, so I figured the jetting is pretty much on. I don't know how else to tell you the amount of power that it has, but in a generic way, will say that it has enough to pull 210lb of me into a wheelie in 3rd gear.

I do a lot of trail riding and it tends to get hot as well. So there you have it, what is my next mod that I should be looking at. Cool heads, more compression, adjust my pipe (which way?), porting, Pro-Design filter kit, reduced tooth front sproket, or? It is more than fast enough on top end, I just want to get a little more low and mid out of it.

Sorry for such a long post, but hopefully it will cover it all in just one. Also, give a round figure for the cost of each of the mods you recommend. Thanks in advance.

I really do not think I can add anyhting to that! Evrything is right on! Adjust the pipe out or longer for more bottom. The change in sprokets is also wise choice.

forgot one thing, if it is bogging in bottom end, it wants more air and being itis set up to run with the airbox lid OFF then u should rmeove it and allow more air to flow through your bike

When I got my LRD pipes and silencers, I noticed the low end lacking even more compared to the stockers (no surprise there) But a huge gain in the mid and top end. So to compinsate, I dropped down to a 13 tooth front sprocket, which did help a bit. Since I'm going to be racing Harescrambles this year, I'm going to be needing even more low end. I should have probably gone with a 2 into 1 pipe to do this, but its a little to late for that now. So instead I ordered Pro Design cool head with 19cc domes, which should be here next week. I also have Boyesen rad valves and reed spacers which I still have to install.

I am wondering with these mods, will there be a significant improvement in the low end? If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to tell me.

Be carefull with that 13 tooth sprocket, I tried it and hated it. I do mainly trail riding at well but the 13 will really slow you down in 3rd and 4th. try a 14 if you must but for trailing you may not like it, banshee's love 3rd and 4th. I got beat by a yz250 when I dropped down and I used to freight train this bike when I hit 4th.

Having the correct needle jet position is the key to good throttle response.

Thanks guys. I'll probably start out with adjusting the pipe, dropping down a tooth, then next would be more compression and advancing the timing.

Out of curiosity, how much is the power range affected by a 4 degree advance?

Thanks,
Scott
