Wiseco 440 kit for the EX??
I see it for sale by many people in the magazines for around $250.00- that doesnt sound bad.
Has anyone used this kit? I would like any input, power gains, reliability, does it come with everything i need? Any other input is appreciated, or would i just be better off spending money elsewhere?
By the way, the kit comes with: head, sleeve, and gaskets....i think thats it.
im not looking for the fastest 400, i just want some NOTICABLE power gains
thanks

The weisco kits as you see require you to have the sleeve installed at a machine shop, which will then also bore it to match the new piston(apropriat ring end gap). Call around and see if you have a local machine shop that can do this for you. My experience has been to have the sleeve installed by the company selling you the parts, less companies involved means less waiting. I have a couple of friends who simply couldn't live without thier quad for two weeks while machine work was bieng done so they simply went to a higher compresion piston and an aftermarket camshaft. These bikes run great considering they still have a small displacement(relative to the competition). This will also alow them to wear out that stock cyl before having it machined away...its a hell of a toss up. PM me and let me know what you are looking for, as far as cost and time and we could get you going with the right stuff.

We just put the 440 kit in on my buddy's ex last weekend . ..we had a freind who did the machine work. . .it was pretty easy for a guy who knows what he's doing. . .the old sleev fell right out after being heated in the oven. . .new sleeve popped right back in. . .then he did all the boring. . .we tore down the motor at about 1:00 in the afternoon. . .did all the work. . .and had it all totally finished by 10 that night. he also put a hot cam in it and we ported and polished the head while it was all apart. . .might as well right??? runs great. . .haven't really gotten on it yet though. . he;s wanting to break it in slowly. . .now of course we're giving him a hard time about not going with the 465 kit. . .anyway. . .good luck. . if you need to know anything else. . .let me know!!
