Default Anyone know what could be causing this??

I have a Rincon. I just did the exhaust mod and dial-a-jet. Exhaust mod consisted of onening the tailpipe to a 1.75" outlet and drilling 10 ...1/2" holes in the last muffler baffle.

The machine runs great, but occasionally it does this:

When in DRIVE AT A DEAD STOP, I start to creep away and the INSTANT I touch the throttle lever the Rinny dies.

This only happens occasionally. Today it happened twice in a row...this time in reverse.

I dont think the direction matters. Just as soon as I touch the throttle, it dies.

After I start it back again, it runs fine.

Any ideas???? Thanks

Thanks

My guess is that now you are running a little lean on the low end. A lean condition on the low end will cause the idle to raise and the machine to creep and possibly stall when a load is applied. That machine may be jetted on the edge of lean from the factory and then by opening up the exhaust you put it over the edge. Try richening the air screw (not the idle screw). With some carbs you turn the air screw out to richen and other carbs you turn the screw in. Usually, if the air screw is on the engine side of the carb you would have to turn the screw out and if the air screw is on the airbox side you would have to turn the screw in. You will have to determine that first then try turning the screw in 1/4 turn increments. In extreme lean conditions you have to go up in pilot jet size instead but your simple mods should not require that. After making these adjustments, you may also have to adjust the idle screw.

I see also that you added a dial-a-jet. I am not a big fan do to a past experience. What do the d-a-j instructions say for curing a lean condition on the low end?

Dial-a-jet states that their product does/will not affect idle to 1/8 throttle. So the prob isnt there.

I adjusted it and idled it up SLIGHTLY.

Ill see if it helps. I may have had it on the verge of idling too low.

Thanks for the info.

As you said "Dial-a-jet states that their product does/will not affect idle to 1/8 throttle" but the holes drilled in the airbox lid and the exhaust mod will affect the entire range. What you need to do is play with the pilot screw to richen up the low speed circuit, try a half turn richer at first and see what happens.
