400ex handlebars and twist grip
#1
I just put on a twist grip for my 400ex. I'm not too sure I like the height of the stock bars now (too high); it seems a bit hard to control the throttle when fatigue sets in on my wrist. I never had this problem with my dirt bike and assume its cause the 400's bars are just too high. I'd like to get a set of aftermarket bars to correct this, but have no idea on measurements, etc. I wouldn't mind just picking up a popular style that helps with this, but again, have no idea what bend to get (i.e., cr bend, etc.). Anyone with some experience on this, please let me know. Thanks.

I'm running Renthals with a CR bend on my Warrior.I've forgotten the exact specs, but the rise is a little over 3" and the pull back is less than the stock bars. If you ride a lot standing up you may like this style. They also are a little narrower, making them better for woods or tight trails .
With the lower rise you will be able to ride in the more aggressive position known as the attack position with your elbows high & bent...difficult to do when the bars are too high. When installing alloy bars be sure to observe the torque specs.

I run a FMF 909 CR high bend bars on my 400ex they work really well, or if you want to spend the money I hear alot of things about the pro tapers, but you have to change the clamps because the bar is larger at the mounting point. Also you might try filling your bars with silicon caulk, the kind in a tube, it takes alot of the vibration out of the bars.
