2007 450 sportsman high idle after rewire!!!!!!!
#1
So recently my dog decided to use the wiring on my 450 as a chew toy. After I had a heart attack i started repairing the damage which was all 4 wires from the right side of the handlebar bitten in half and, the left side rear plug on the kill switch/headlight module was bitten in half. I think my problem is gonna be with the left side. Now from the module to the harness i have 6 wires white/red-red/white/-brown-black-yellow-green. but from the harness to the module i only have red/white-brown-yellow-green. So i left the white/red and black wires disconnected and the four wheeler started but it idled at 5300 rpms. Am i supposed to bridge some wires together because im lost. i thought maybe she pulled them out but when i traced the wires back to the harness there was no damage and there were only red/white-brown-yellow-green wires?

This is where the electrical schematic in a good repair manual will be worth its cost! You can trace wire per wire and I had a few myself where the schematic came in handy! Not just dogs, but horses and rats love to eat seats and wiring!

i actually have the factory service manual but i am having a hard time with it. the fsm shows the missing wires should be coming from the main harness, which they are not. i tried to attach a screen shot of my fsm but i dont know how

You say it idles at 5300 rpms? Have you tried to adjust the carb idle? Also I've had harnesses eaten up bad enough that it was better to replace than to try to patch up. OPT

ok i feel like an idiot. i talked to the guy i bought it from and he told me to check the throttle cable. so i did and it seemed to be correctly working. but he insisted that i check again and what do ya know the dog pinched the cable in half in the wide open position...I guess its better to have a rookie mistake than to have to be right and buy a harness

Parts breakdown on Polaris site shows basically all 2005, 06 and 07 Sportsmans share the same seat, before that no.Dog eat the seat too?
I've had em where big chunks were eaten out all the way to the seat pan! OPT

honest to god there wasnt one, not one piece of foam left in the seat pan. im trying to find a seat on ebay but im having trouble figuring out which will work since most the used seats are a mystery to the sellers
