Possibly then the ramp buttons are worn especially if the clutch is grooved down. Takes a spider tool to break the clutch down and replace the six (6) buttons if worn down. If they wear too much can create a lot of noise from the clutch slack at the spider area.Have heard some really worn ones sound like a diesel engine clattering. There will also be a little"flexing" in the clutch(as it moves a little on the front motor mount) and it will pull back a little during acceleration, but check the front motor mount for separation that can cause the engine to move.Easy to replace if mount is broken/separated OPT

stupid question, but could the use of the foot brake have anything to do with this? I remeber using it just before this started! And I also notice the engine is braking more intensley now! Any ideas??

Foot brake no,wouldn't have any thing to do with it,just check that the pads aren't worn down and while jacked up check that the foot brake stops and releases. I'd have the clutch buttons replaced and possibly the rear clutch ramp buttons also. Think you may be down to that. OPT
