What is the best way to remove and install the strut ball joint. On an 04 600.

Easiest way to remove and replace ball joints is with the tool kit at Victor, but its 100 bucks!
Others have heated the ball joint area around the strut and used slide hammers that they have made adapters for. Others I'm sure will tell you their methods! OPT

heat strut around ball joint with propane torch, clamp large vice grips onto joint shaft and hit vice grips with hammer, get a large deep socket that fits over shaft and around collar of new joint, tap new joint in while still hot

I'm not exactly sure how similar they are but on my 03 trailblazer I put the strut in a vice and heated the area on the sides of the ball joint for about 30 seconds or so with an oxy-acet torch while I was pulling on the stud with a pair of channel locks until it just popped out. It would be best to do with with new part in hand (or just out of an hour sit in the freezer) and just slide it back in till it won't go any farther. Then just wait for it all to cool and reinstall plate and back onto the machine. It really wasn't that bad, but I pulled my bad one and a couple days later I installed the new one. But if you already have the new one then it should just slide right back in while it's still hot.
