Default Reverse kit ?'s, 03 Pred. 90

Ok, so you know that the 2003 Predator 90 did not come with reverse. When we purchased the quad, it came with a new out of box reverse kit. It attaches to the right side of the frame, and has a planetary geared sprocket. The sprocket rides the shaft that the factory sprocket would. Fit is NON ISSUE here, great looking piece. The only problem is this, I cannot figure out where to mount the lever? The cable is such that it cannot be shortened, and when placed on the only place I can find that it looks like it will go, there is a very large loop of cable between the lever and the drive unit. With the quad being designed as it is, there is no real good place to use a zip tie in the frame to put the excess due to the pipe. The only place I think it will mount is on the top portion of the motor mount bracket on the right side of the quad using the two bolts at the top.

I know this add on was designed for this quad, as it bolted up perfectly with the frame. There is NO manufacturers I.D. on the housing. It's high quality, and I'd guess it was probably a couple hundred bucks, but numerous searches have turned up NO results.

Can anyone help me find where the lever is supposed to go? Thanks in advance, I'd at my wit's end here...

Sorry, I cant help you on this one! I've never even heard of a reverse kit for the older automatic ones in all the years I worked on em Something new? If you can find any marks let us know, plus I'll do some digging around. They may have been out there, but no one ever asked us at our shop! They just traded the little ones in on a Sawtooth or a Phoenix when the kid outgrew em or just passed em down to family! OPT

Thanks OPT. It's actually pretty trick, and a very clean install ( it looks like polished aluminum ) but that cable is like four feet long...lol.

The 2012 4 stroke 90's have a shifter similar to the Phoenix and 06 Sawtooth, but on the older forward only automatic 2 strokes, for something like this to work it would have to work off the drive sprocket and have some sort of reverse gear box I would think? What all kind of parts are there in this kit? OPT

starting in 05, the Predator 90 had reverse from the factory. We have the 03 and the 05. The reverse runs off the drive sprocket. When you pull back the "shifter", it engages a planetary gear in the housing that spins the sprocket in reverse. I took some pics and I am trying to upload now.

YEP! The 2005 and up Predator 90 and Sportsmans did have the shifter similar to the Sawtooth and Phoenix, but it has a sorta of a separate gear box that's mounted to the main gear case working off the lever. Anxious to see pics of the kit! I was thinking of the early ones (2001-2004 50 and 90 models only.)When the four stroke little ones came out they had internal shift forks and gears.OPT

Ok. I got the dang thing mounted. I had to fab the mount to get it to work. Mounted it on the left side and ran the cable through the frame around the tank. I also had to fab the plastic to get it to work. I am thinking this may have been made for a different model, possibly a Sportsman. I had to cut the plastics on the left side to get them over it and mounted.
I will post pics later of the quad reassembled, but this is just the unit itself, taken from the right side. I think this is going to be cool. I hope the planetary does not slow it down much while traveling forward.
