Default 2007 Sportsman 500 EFI

I bought this machine used with only 500 miles on it, since i have had it i have replaced fuel tank, the outter fuel filter, air filter and some other things and this machine will run then bog down and eventually die and not restart. Its in good shape, practically brand new no wear and tear but it doesnt run right. Iv spent almost what iv paid for it in repairs already, anyone have issues with these machines? Its still in a shop but any help would be appreciated. The next thing im replacing is the injector, basically down to throwing parts at it.

How can a Plastic gas tank ever wear out?
I have the carb model and it has 3600 miles and has been pretty good. Maybe the efi ones are just to computerized.

Most problems on efi machines were the sensor harness and connectors. Wires were way too thin and brittle. You can look at the "sticky" section above this section about efi problems.Fuel pumps can go out also.Never had a problem with injectors. If the shop you have it in doesn't have Polaris Digital Wrench software to find the problem then best to find one that does. Digital wrench can usually narrow down where the problem is so you wont have to keep throwing parts at it. OPT

the guy thats working on it now doesnt have the digital wrench software... i took it to an authorized polaris dealer that probably had the software and they ran it and said it needed a new fuel tank due to varnished gas, which i thought was bull, just another rip off trying to squeeze the money out of you. the guy thats working on it did however think that he had it narrowed down to a wire harness but still is unsure. i will relay the info you have shared and hopefully he can get r done. i wanna ride....

Sounds like this guy's smarter than the dealers Most of the harness problems we had were the map sensor wiring and connectors coming off the throttle body.Plus the crank sensor wires coming from the right side up under the throttle body were bad about rubbing wires and getting shorts. They are very fine wires and can either have a bare wire or can even break internally causing erratic running, back firing, especially at idle or a little above. One of the other problem areas was the control module in front of the radiator. On the earlier models Polaris didn't offer a separate fuel pump(if the pump failed),you had to buy the complete tank,BUT most good dealers have the replacement pump numbers now that were sent by Polaris and offered by Air Tex,etc that you can get at Napa, O'reilly's,etc. I got this list of replacement pumps right as I was retiring . Hope he finds the problem. OPT

he is smatrer then the dealer and they have the software to find out these problems. My mechanic now used to work for a dealership Pure Polaris and worked on them, i told him to tear it apart and look at everything becuase dealership is overlooking something. I appreciate all the input, and he did say he thought it was a wiring problem somewhere.
