Default 1991 polaris 350 trail boss stalls when I put it in reverse

maybe some one will no what is not working properly with my 1991 polaris 350 trail boss. and it was this way when I bought it, but when you put it in reverse it will kill the motor, however if you push and actually hold the buttom in. it will reverse just fine. I have no idea where to look for the problem at. any help would be great. thanks

Pull the tank plastic cover and the circuit board is on the drivers side. trace the black wire from the reverse limiter and pull it from the circuit board. This will solve your problem. The reverse limiter module has shorted out,a common problem on Polaris atvs. There will only be two black wires on the top of the circuit board: Cdi kill wire and the reverse limiter wire.Look here on your model under "wiring harness" to show where the limiter and circuit board is. http://parts.polarisind.com/Browse/Browse.asp

You will have full power in reverse along with the awd (if in awd mode) when you pull the black wire,so be aware of this! The over ride button is eliminated. OPT
