Replace a 500cc with a 700cc?
#1
I have a engine that I'm rebuilding, a 700cc engine that came out of a 2005 Sportsman MV7. My question is how hard would it be to put it in a 2005 Sportsman MV 6x6 which currently has a 500 cc engine in it. I know i would probably have to change the starter, primary clutch, and belt, but anything else I might need to do? what, if any, damage could it cause?

You'd have to fabricate the motor mounts on the frame for the engine to mount up,plus you'd need the complete electrical harness off the 700, plus the ignition system, carb, possibly the air box, the exhaust would need to have supports welded for the different muffler mounts, etc. Basically you can swap most any motor around (plenty of people have done it) but expect the unexpected when you do. Along with clutch system you mentioned, you have to have more than just the engine itself to do a swap!! Can get costly if you don't have the rest of the parts you need and have to dig em up to stuff a 700 engine into a 500 6x6 frame. OPT
