My sportsman 500 had been sitting for a about a month in a shed and when I pulled it out, the 4 wheel drive didn't work. I checked all of the wiring, and the switch, but everyhing seems to be fine. Also I checked the two wires going to the front differential and there is power to it. Is my only solution to tear the whole front end of my atv apart to dissassemble the differential/transfer case? Anything will help thanks.

 

Welcome! Change the Demand Drive hub fluid first if it's been awhile. Jack the atv up back and front and engage the awd. If the front doesn't kick in,then possibly the plastic roll cage in the front differential is damaged. This was a common problem until they went to aluminum roll cages.Several members have been replacing these with John Deere parts and should give you the numbers needed. OPT
