Default Sportsman 500/600 Reverse Issues

Out quadding today and ran into an issue i never had before on my (2004) 600, and then my girlfriends (2004)500HO.

When engaged in reverse, and i gas on it, it goes, and stops, goes and stops, and even when on flat surface, i push the quad and then it seems to rev up and go.

Anyone know whats causing this?

Also i have the reverse override, what does that do?
Does it put it in Reverse 4wd??

You have to push the yellow reverse over ride button if you go over about 2mph in reverse or the limiter will kick in. It has to be pushed to have full power in reverse and also to engage 4wd in reverse. This is just a safety device.

That's why they have a reverse limiter so people won't get hurt. Good safety device when they work properly as it makes you aware that you will have full power in reverse and you need to keep the front tires straight.
