Default Removing the battery cable from starter

Manual says to remove the starter cable. How does this come off? The red insulator is stiff and does not budge. How do I disconnect the cable from the starter? Or does the the cable stay with the starter. I want to put the starter back on the engine while its off the frame.
Thank you

Pull the stiff red cap back with pliers if you have to! Hold the cable and loosen the 10mm nut. You can orient the cable to where it will be when mounted and tighten the nut and slip the boot back over it. Then remount the starter.

Default a little heat

Thanks again OPT.
I put a little heat gun to the cover which made it nice and plyable. I was then able to pull it off by hand.
