You will see the inner part of the housing turn if you jack the rear wheel up and turn them!If the inner part doesn't turn, normally the key has broken. Plus check the cable out now that you have it off.

The wheels have to be turning for the adapter inner part to turn!! If you don't see it turn remove the three bolts holding the adapter to the tranny and pull it off! Plus can you turn the speedo cable??

Ok, i took it off. Pain in the ***! Anyways, i took it off and the pin was stuck and it has a BUNCH of greasy black stuff. (Oil?) I took the pin out of the transmission and put it back into the 'key'.

Will the key while in the adapter turn? The pin you are referring to is the KEY! If it does turn, reinstall the adapter plate to the tranny and get a new cable if it's frozen or rusted.

Oh, thanks! Didn't know that.
Anyways, Nothing's wrong. It now turns. It seems like nothing is broken, only mis-aligned.
