Default 2000 scrambler 500 stator

I just replaced the stator and flywheel on my scrammy. Got everything hooked up and found there was an extra brown wire on my stator. Actually, it's the same wire branched off. I connected one end to the coil as per the old one and just left the other part hanging. I reconnected my battery and the starter engaged as soon as I connected it. It doesn't matter if the key is in the on or off position. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Brown is just a ground, doesn't matter if it branches off into two browns as long as it's on the same main line and you have one end grounded. From the factory I've found plenty like this that have an unused ground just hanging from the coil mount. Sounds like you may have problems else where such as a shorted solenoid, a switch problem or something else that might be triggering the solenoid.Recheck your wiring.
