I get the feeling I am beating a dead horse here.
I have read your post about replacing just the coil and think I could mange it,but living up here in Canada it is still cost restrictive to order the coil, shipping is the killer. So i guess its 3 wheel drive for awhile until budget allows or if the price is right on a used assembly I might try it also, but it would have to be a real good low price

If you ran this hub dry and had damage on the inside of the strut, then you've probably done some damage on the outer part. It doesn't take much to screw this strut up especially if there is any wear on the thin inner machined pole of the strut. I've seen this happen and some would still have problems holding the armature plate even with new seal sleeves and awd coils. You could be beating a dead horse as you say..

Well with all your help I think we can close this case. Its crazy that on a machine that is meant to be exposed to rough teerain would have such strict tolerences on the front end like this.I guess another reason they went with the centralized system, but I am sure it has its weakness' also

Haven't checked myself as to which year models can interchange, should be a few as they standardize a lot of parts for different machines. You can check here on all the different models and years.Browse
Plus I've found a damage strut pic with an inner pole ground down, but the pic isn't the greatest.Look at the thin outer part and how it widens from being ground down by the plate.
