May have gotten the cam timing off.

Got it running good. Had a little tick maybe due to valves being a little loose. Drove it a little bit and it got louder. I took the valve cover off and 2 of the bolts to the holder for the camshaft had backed out and it broke the holder on the opposite side. Any idea what would have caused this?

Even though the cam support bolts only torque to about 8 foot pounds,it's possible that you didn't tighten one side enough. All it takes is for the bolts to loosen and put stress on the other support.I've seen this happen before. Also support blocks or cam journals in the head them selves can be worn, out of spec causing the bolts to loosen from the cam vibration.I'd check these against the specs in the manual.
