2010 Sportsman 500HO Won't Start
#11
Quads don't like sitting for long periods at a time. If I let my Grizzly sit for 2 years without starting it, I doubt it would run either. You're probably best to just buy a new battery. Like TLC said, even if you don't ride in the winter, its best to get out and start the machine up about once a month to let it idle to keep the carb from getting gummed up and keep the battery from going dead. Around here, I usually can find a day or 2 in the winter each month where its not cold enough that I actually want to take it out and ride it anyway.

Well carb kit installed and still will not run. Spins over and achieves about 500 rpm but will not run. I know it's firing because the exhaust is getting hot and spinning the starter over you can hear it trying to run but still nothing. The small brass tube on the side had been broken off on the lower end, I traced it up to the choke and am not sure what it actually does. I fear that a new carb might be what it is in need of now...

If you've damaged the carb in anyway on the casting you can either let some one look at it that can determine what's wrong or you can take a chance on used 40mm carbs on ebay and try again.05 06 07 08 Polaris Sportsman 450 500 4x4 HO Carb Carburetor | eBay 01 10 Polaris Sportsman Scrambler 500 H O Carburetor Carb | eBay A new Mikuni carb from the dealer is close to 500 bucks..
