Default Coolant Fan polaris 400

Ok guys, messing with the 2001 scrambler 400 again and was thinking about straight wiring the radiator fan. It doesnt kick on anymore by itself but i can hot wire it and it will run. Is there any issue with me running a toggle switch to it?...... The reason being is first its not kicking on but also the head seems to be hot! Ive pulled the radiator hose going to the head and its pumping good. Bleed the air out on the head bolt . Only thing I can see not working is the fan. Any thoughts? Also over flow was over flowing last ride

Usually just the radiator sensor has burnt out that triggers the fan when this happens. You can use a Wells Sw526 sensor sold at most auto places instead of the pricey oem one if you wish. Just use your oem connector.Wells Vehicle Electronics Cooling Fan Switch SW526: Advance Auto Parts You need to have this on the sensor as it can trigger the fan better than a toggle since it's water cooled.

Got the sensor and it fixed the fan!! Can you help me with one more thing?.... Does moving the carb needle clip up ritchen up the mix? I cant seem to get the "perfect color" on the plug according to the pics I look at. Here is the plug chop on a new plug

Moving the clip up leans the low to mid range mixture as the needle goes deeper into the needle jet.Dropping the clip(raises the needle) which richens the low to mid range mixture. 2nd to 3rd position from the top is the average positions for most. Imo all the Scrambler 400s were jetted too rich to begin with on the main jets because Polaris knew most would be abused, run wide open, but tough on low to mid range running on a lot of machines. They had a stock 230 main to where the Explorer 400(same engine) used a 200 main jet.You might consider dropping the main to a 220 and see if helps also if needle position adjustment doesn't help. Plug is a tad on the rich side. Should be a tan to medium brown. Also if carb parts are worn(needle and seat worn, float arm adjustment off) it can run rich also. On any major jetting changes just plug chop again.
