02 Sportsman oil leak

Default 02 Sportsman oil leak
I have a 2002 sportsman 500 HO. It has started leaking oil from the weep hole behind the water pump.What would be the cause and the solution for repairing it?

Have to pull the water pump seal to get to the oil seal.. You really need the seal puller or risk damaging the shaft.. This is where you need to weigh the cost of the tool for a one time use versus letting the shop do it..Plus if they do any damage, then it's on their dime..

Could the leak be caused by a faulty oil check valve?It seems to be an intermittent problem.

Wouldn't think so,but you can always pull the plug,spring and see if the one way valve is able to move and not frozen.
