No,not necessarily that it will run bad. I've unplugged air temp sensors while running with no effect on engine performance. Usually you can just clean the dirt off these that accumulates. Electrical problems can be squirrelly and sometimes hard to track down, but if you can't clear the codes especially codes 45 and 46, those leads straight to the map sensor. Just from our experience at the shop.we had more problems with these harnesses than anything else. The manual has some good trouble shooting guides that can help, but if in doubt, the best thing is have it hooked up to Digital Wrench that can usually pin point problem areas.

Again additional codes may be thrown in with codes that are the problem area. Yes it can be a tps harness problem or can be a map sensor problem or possibly both. Even simple over looked shorts in the crank position sensor harness that run up under the throttle body can intermittently touch the starter and cause problems like this. Rather than guessing at the problem,or even throwing both a tps and tbap harness kit @ 40 bucks each, that may not solve all the problems,I'd have it put on Digital Wrench. Some people hate dealers but sometimes they're a necessary evil when it comes to efi problems..

Ok thank you for the help. I ordered new harness connections. Hopefully that will fix it. Do you just cut the old connector off and splice in the new one?

New connector just plugs in the sensor. You cut the old wiring harness to the length of the new wiring, has connectors and shrink wrap for a good tight fit.
