Fuel pump did need to be replaced as it does stream fuel now,but as far as the carb job you said you did a couple months ago, sounds like you may have a gummed up pilot jet or other problems. That's where the fuel stabilizer comes in and stops stuff like that. I'd go into the carb and blow the jets out, check the needle and seat for any varnish, put it back together and go from there. This time throw some fuel stabilizer in the tank if it's going to be sitting for any length of time. The old ethanol free gas could sit for 6 months or longer with no problems, the ethanol crap we get now can gum up carbs in a short period of time.

Don't get the red junk, doesn't work as well. Blue Marine Stabil or Star-Tron.. Plus no matter what you use, have a full tank of fuel. Less room for moisture to collect.

Got the carb off. Cleaning it now, it's not to bad. The screw that goes into the bottom of the carb I believe it is the idle screw, (not the long one with the spring that goes to the throttles cable) do I screw that in all the way and back it out 2 revolutions?

"IF" you haven't touched it,count the number of turns inward to a lightly seated position. Then you can remove it for cleaning.Use this setting upon installation. Remember there is a small washer and o-ring in there also. If you've already removed it,basic setting is 2 turns out from a lightly seated position. This is the pilot screw or fuel screw as it controls fuel at an idle.If after installation it runs a little rough this screw can be adjusted with a small screw driver or carb adjuster stick.Adjust it when engine is warm if needed. Slowly turn out or in until engine runs the smoothest. Usually between 2-3 turns out.

Recheck your steps on the fuel pump to make sure everything's hooked up right. If so and still has good fuel flow start at the basics. Compression needs to be between 55-90 psi,has to have good spark, plus check valve clearance. Ether is lighter than gas and will crank most any machine that has decent compression and spark. If it runs ok after the ether, then sounds like you still have something wrong in the carb area.Make sure you can see daylight through the pilot jet and all opening are blown out.
